So, this weekend marks the one year anniversary of my mom's death. I have missed her so this year, I wanted to share with her the birth of the new baby ER, and my new job, and the many other minute details of my life. I now have even more good news to share with her, but it is a secret for now...I think SHE knows though.

You mom is the one person who is always in your corner, the one who encourages you, and loves you in spite of yourself, and the one who lets you know when you hair looks bad or you look tired. She worries about you even after you are grown. It is really hard to be the oldest woman in my family, but I feel so blessed to have had some great role models in life, women that I miss every single day.

So, today, I take you to a moment in the past, a moment that I wasn't even a part of, to remember the strong and beautiful woman that was my mom.

The boy has a backpack!

All he needs now is someone to carry it, a tent, and a sleeping bag and he is ready for a camping trip with his Mimi! Mimi would carry him, but at 20 POUNDS he has already outgrown his car seat, so I think that we will have to hire a Sherpa to carry him, at least until he can walk.
Anyway, Mr. Lynn has to watch him a lot since his mama has to work. Lucky Mr. Lynn.

His mama (and his mimi) think he is a handsome boy!

So my daughter, Miss Lyndsey, she loves her boy. She is such a good mother too, and a good daughter. Almost every day, she sends me a new picture of the boy. This picture almost made me sad, though. He is losing the look of the baby and looks more like a little boy!

Weekend Activities

I had a good weekend. The weather in Denver was beautiful, so I took the opportunity to get downtown on Saturday. I met my friend, Brenda, someone that I have known since 2nd grade! We had a great time, trying out new things to eat and eventually ending up at Jackson's bar to watch the OU-Texas Men's basketball game. Disappointingly, the Sooners lost but the WORST part of the game was when Blake Griffin got knocked out, and NOW it looks like he won't even play tonight, when we take on Kansas. Texas is always pulling stuff like that, hurting perfectly nice people just trying to win a game. Anyway, I still think the Sooners have a good chance of getting a number one seed, both Women and Men's Basketball!

On Sunday, I drove up to Winter Park for a day of snowshoeing. I am so amazed by the fact that it can be 70 degrees in Denver and sunny, and you can drive only 50 miles to the west and be greeted by several feet of snow! It is like the perfect set-up, you don't have to walk to work in ice and snow, but you can drive a short ways and enjoy the perks of such winter weather.

As you can see, I wore way too many clothes though (see all that stuff hanging around my waist!) Snowshoeing works up a sweat, even if the temp is below freezing (which it was when we started out, but it warmed up quickly in the sunshine.) It was great, though, we hiked through deep powder, high in the mountains, and at one point, we looked down to see a coal train making its way through the mountains. We saw wildlife--well, a chipmunk at least--and in general got some great exercise.

Little ER had to get some new clothes. He is almost 20 pounds! His cousin, Greta, born October 3 (2 days before the jolly green giant here) is only 10 pounds today.

The boy has discovered his toys!

This is Sleeping Beauty. She always announces, "I am just going to close my eyes for a minute" and then she does this!

President Obama

The prez, Barack Obama was in Denver today. He and I both flew in, me on Southwest and him on Air Force One. Luckily, the two did not collide. Also, lucky for me, our schedules did not collide. I arrived at DIA at 9:30 AM, took the bus to Stapleton, and got to work around 11 AM--just about the time President Obama was landing at Buckley Air Force Base. Traffic was a real mess after that, luckily I only had to walk to work! It is a little disconcerting to see all that security, and to think that our own campus police had machine guns and stuff.

Anyway, from the window of our conference room we could watch Air Force One take off and head to Arizona. The president flew right over our heads--it was pretty exciting! Do you think Air Force One carries its own limo?!?

My Valentine!

Spent the weekend in Tulsa! here is a pic of ER, my sweet valentine.

The marvelous Macy and I saw Coraline, which I thought was scary and she thought was great. She has also given up junk food, which apparently does not include Chicken mcnuggets or soda pop!

I spent a whole afternoon with ER, while the marvelous Macy was at school and Mommy and Daddy were at work. Let me tell you, it is a lot of work to babysit a baby! You have to have a car seat, the bumbo, diapers, formula, the stroller, and a friend, to help you figure out how to operate all of that stuff. but still, it was fun and he was so very sweet. And almost 20 lbs!

Maggie, and Mom!

At the special request of one of my co-mothers, Julia, here is a picture of my niece Elizabeth and her girls, Maggie Moo and Greta. They survived the tornado in Edmund, Oklahoma this week, but they did spend a part of the evening in the bathroom tub!

The Sleeping Princess

Macy called today and said she is "so excited, Mimi, I am coming to see you at the lake!" She is not the only one that is excited. I haven't seen the precious babies since New Years, which is entirely too long!

The Marvelous Macy...

This is the marvelous Macy, ready and waiting for Cinderella to start! Mimi sent her tickets to the ballet for Valentines day.
So, the Marvelous Macy called on Saturday, to tell me that she got her ears pierced, "and it didn't hurt at all, just a little pinch!" and she has "beautiful pink crystal diamonds" in her ears. She is growing up so fast...but she misses Mimi and Mimi misses her!!

So, Scissortail Golf has a new employee!

Mr. Lynn said Little ER is not so little anymore. When last we spoke (last night) he was on a mission to find a swing to keep at the golf course, because Mommy Lyndsey brings the boy to work and I guess he is too big to just sit in his car seat anymore. Not that he did that much, I don't think, between Mr. Lynn and Mommy Lyndsey. But we can't have him bored, now, can we? I am so homesick to see the little ones, I am counting the days until next Friday!

Workin' at the Golf Course--just another day in paradise!

So, the boy has to go to work with his Mom. Looks like he is hangin' on to some golf balls!
Mr. Lynn loves me--I have golf in my future!!
