I had a good weekend. The weather in Denver was beautiful, so I took the opportunity to get downtown on Saturday. I met my friend, Brenda, someone that I have known since 2nd grade! We had a great time, trying out new things to eat and eventually ending up at Jackson's bar to watch the OU-Texas Men's basketball game. Disappointingly, the Sooners lost but the WORST part of the game was when Blake Griffin got knocked out, and NOW it looks like he won't even play tonight, when we take on Kansas. Texas is always pulling stuff like that, hurting perfectly nice people just trying to win a game. Anyway, I still think the Sooners have a good chance of getting a number one seed, both Women and Men's Basketball!
On Sunday, I drove up to Winter Park for a day of snowshoeing. I am so amazed by the fact that it can be 70 degrees in Denver and sunny, and you can drive only 50 miles to the west and be greeted by several feet of snow! It is like the perfect set-up, you don't have to walk to work in ice and snow, but you can drive a short ways and enjoy the perks of such winter weather.
As you can see, I wore way too many clothes though (see all that stuff hanging around my waist!) Snowshoeing works up a sweat, even if the temp is below freezing (which it was when we started out, but it warmed up quickly in the sunshine.) It was great, though, we hiked through deep powder, high in the mountains, and at one point, we looked down to see a coal train making its way through the mountains. We saw wildlife--well, a chipmunk at least--and in general got some great exercise.
