A short trip down Memory Lane!

Years ago, 32 to be exact, Mr. Lynn and I moved to a small triplex on Lindsey Street in Norman. We had just returned from Europe, Mr. Lynn had been playing on the European tour and Mimi (I wasn't Mimi then) had just tagged along, enjoying the sights, making new friends--and discovering that I was pregnant! We moved next door to a wonderful couple from South Dakota, Al and Karin Wiese, and became friends. The last time I saw them, Lyndsey Anna was a new baby, and they had returned to Norman for Al's graduation and doctoral hooding. Years passed, and we lost touch. Thanks to technology and facebook, Karin got in touch with me recently. Karin and I had a lot to catch up on; it seems Al had died of cancer 10 years ago, and Karin is about to become a new grandma like me! The other thing, Karin's brother, Tim, is the women's basketball coach at Colorado State University--and last night, Karin and I got together in Ft. Collins for dinner and to catch up on 30 years. It has always amazed me that there are some people that you can never see or talk to for years, but the minute you see them, the years just fade away and you just instantly become friends again. I met her brother and his family, and her youngest daughter, and saw pictures of her kids--and of course, she saw pictures of MY family too. We had the best time, enjoying old memories and talking about our lives--and the truth is, we are both a bit older, but she honestly hasn't changed that much.
The funniest thing, though, Tim's friend, Jamie stopped by our table, and he said to me, "I know your husband--he was the golf coach at Iowa when I was the golf coach at Drake." Even in Ft. Collins, when he isn't even with me, people know Mr. Lynn!

After several days of less than perfect weather (you know, not too bad, but sort of cloudy and rainy at times, and cooler), today dawned and it was beautiful. Even though it wasn't a day to wash my hair, it was too beautiful outside not to go for a run. 46 degrees, sunny, not a breath of wind--all in all, as perfect as it gets. So, I took myself down to the sand river for a 3 mile run. Well, those of you who are runners would know that what I do is NOT running, I could walk faster than I run, but it is more of a slow jogging, I guess. Anyway, it was so pretty down there...as I huffed along down the path, I noticed that, suddenly, the whole world has gotten green and lush. The river is beautiful, and full with the winter snow melt. I thought how lucky we are that G-d gives us spring after the long winter, so that we can appreciate the beauty without realizing that we missed it until the moment we see it. The geese were down there, too, and they were enjoying the sunshine, as well.

And the Nuggets are back in LA--a win tonight would be just about perfect, too!

Baseball at Coors field!

Monday found PaPa and I (BIG-ER) at Coors field to watch the Rockies and the Dodgers. For 6 innings, it was a close game. After that, the Dodgers had a HUGE 7th inning, one I thought would never be over, and we were creamed! However, the day was still fun. It poured down rain all the way to the stadium, cleared off as we went inside; the day continued to be overcast and LOOKED like rain, but not one drop fell on us during the entire 9 innings--and we stayed until the very last out.
Here is Big ER, doing what he does best--eating! In the morning, we watched Star Jones on the View, sampling the best hot dogs across the country--and all we could think about was having one at the game!

My friends, Carol and Michael, joined us for the fun. The rain held off until we were safely back at home, and then it rained most of the night! Luckily, we watched the Nuggets win from inside the house!

Here is my newest picture of my grandbaby--s/he weighs about 5 ounces and is the size of a turnip! We cannot wait to meet baby B! I love him/her already!

The Nuggets win!!

And little ER was pretty excited about it. Notice, he has the Birdman hair, all he needs is a sweatband and some black knee socks--and, of course, a couple hundred tattoos.

Happy Anniversary, Mr. Lynn!

Today Mr. Lynn and Mimi have been married for 33 years. He hasn't aged a bit, except for a little gray around the ears. I, on the other hand, well...let's just say he didn't get as good a deal as I did!
17 years from now, on our 50th wedding anniversary, I am going to retire and stay home with Mr. Lynn on Grand Lake.
Oh and, go Nuggets! Again, I can't watch the game because of Honors Convocation. I will be glad when the Nuggets get back to Denver!

The Marvelous Macy has a tea party...

The marvelous Macy had a tea party and invited her friends...they dressed up (you can see baby ER if you look closely, too, he was quite enthralled with the whole thing! )...
Check out those shoes, now!

and got their nails done...
And Cinderella, came, too. Macy was a bit disappointed in Cinderella, because she was wearing a WIG!!!! You could see BROWN hair underneath her blonde hair. Apparently in the 5 year olds world, a WIG is a definite NO NO for a Star!

Tonight the Madness Continues!

My Nuggets meet the Lakers tonight for the first game of the Western Conference Finals. Unfortunately, I cannot watch the game because I have to go to a graduation banquet. Hopefully it won't last too long--I would hate to miss the last 5 minutes of the game! Denver is a great place for a playoff team--the fans here LOVE the Nuggets, and, let me tell you, we have some real characters on our team. Especially the Bird Man. Everyone in town, babies included, are fixing their hair like the Bird Man, and sending their pictures into the TV station. He IS quite the man--he plays with such enthusiasm, I enjoy watching him.

It is quite entertaining. Apparently, there is some scheduling problem with Game 4 in Denver--the WWW Monday Night Wrestling has the Pepsi Center booked and they don't want to move. I guess the Pepsi Center didn't realize how good the Nuggets were, and they didn't consider that they might make the playoffs--hence the big problem. Anyway, go Nuggets!

On the Baby Note: The Baby Center online tells me that my grandbaby is about the size of an avocado in his/her mommy's tummy:

So, here is a picture of my new grandbaby. Hard to believe, isn't it? A person the size of this avocado.

A New Baby!

So, my new little grandson or granddaughter is growing in mommy's belly--s/he is about the size of an apple in there! My daughter-in-law looks so cute with my grandchild in there! Babies, they are such miracles. The baby's legs are now growing longer than her arms, and her lungs are starting to develop. I am so anxious to meet the little one, and so thankful for the uneventfulness (so far) of the pregnancy,
I spent Mothers Day with the Marvelous Macy and Little ER. Little ER is so precious, sleeping in my arms. When he is awake, he is almost always happy, and smiles the minute you speak to him. He can get around quite nicely in his walker--he can back up and go forward, and he even makes the noise of a motor (I don't know where he learned this, the boy must be intuitively smart) when he is gearing up to move forward. And he just grins when he catches someone's attention--he is very proud of himself!
The Marvelous Macy is fun, and she and I went spider sniffing. We got up in the dark of the night, put on our jackets over our pj's, got our flashlights, and headed out to the deep, dark forest. Unfortunately, 5 is just a bit too young for spider sniffing--before we got out to the dark area where the spiders lurk, we got scared and decided to wait until next summer to go spider sniffing.
The whole family went to the Drillers game on Sunday, and had a blast. Macy Moo even caught a foul ball! Well, the man behind us actually caught it, but Macy looked at him so wistfully that he gave it up. Her daddy made her a megaphone out of a cup, too, and she cheered enthusiastically, and even though she doesn't know beans about baseball she made sure we cheered too. Her favorite thing was that the Drillers wore pink uniforms in honor of Mother's Day, so of course, we yelled for the pink team!

Macy and friends at the Zoo!

Thoughts about Growing Older

I have decided to take better care of myself. It's not just that I have gotten fat; I like to blame that on the change in hormones at middle age, but it is really due to laziness, a love of good food and good (and not so good, for that matter) wine. But, I can tell that I am slowing down a bit, and if I want to continue with the activities that I love...well, I just have to work a bit harder. So every morning that I have to wash my hair, I also drag myself to the gym, or to the Sand River trail for aerobic exercise and strength training--I am even impressing myself with my progress. I am not losing weight, but I have consistently added to my distance.

My doctor said I need more fiber, so I went off in search of metamucil. Let me tell you, this is not your grandma's metamucil. This comes in a variety of flavors from berry berry to lemonade. I chose the Pink Lemonade, because you have to drink this 3 times a day--and I thought pink lemonade would go best with vodka--not that I have tried it, but seriously, it doesn't specify what KIND of liquid!

She also said I needed a daily vitamin. When I told her that I am not very good at taking pills, she suggested taking Viactiv. Who knew that they made vitamins that look like those caramel candies and taste like chocolate? You only need 1 per day, but she said I can take up to 3--and it really does satisfy my craving for chocolate.

All in all, though, taking care of myself did NOT used to be this much work with such small results. No weight loss (kind of like when I hiked across the Maroon Bells with the trip nazi, carrying 50 lbs on my back--all the guys lost weight, but not Mimi, oh no, not her. She just stayed the same.) only a crick in my neck from today's workout. Luckily, tomorrow I don't have to wash my hair....

The Nuggest rock the house!

The weekend began with a trip to the New Mexico mountains--trekking on down to Red River for the owners meeting with my dad and Aunt Bazilla. On the way, we get a call from Mr. Lynn that our friend, Dave, an NBA ref, got his schedule for the playoffs and he drew the Sunday game between the Nuggets and the Mavericks--did we want tickets? Did we WANT tickets? YES!

So our time in Red River was shortened a bit, but beautiful and fun none-the-less, and we got up early Sunday and headed for Denver and the NBA playoffs. We saw a great game, and, even better, the Nuggets looked awesome.

I don't have tickets for tonights game, but I plan to watch! Especially the Birdman and J.R. SWISH!
